OLD HEART SCREENINGS AND VIP EVENTS 2025
Set for release beginning May 2025 during the 80th anniversary celebration of World War 2 European Liberation Day, Old Heart plays across America and in the Netherlands. Screenings feature appearances with principals from the film’s production team. This timely film plays theatrically and is not streaming in 2025.
May 3 - Sneak Preview Park Slope Library Brooklyn, New York - 2 p.m. Producer/Screenwriter Roger Rapoport will be joined by New York coproducer Larry Kirshbaum. Reservations highly recommended for this sneak preview
May 14- Ludington Arts Center, Ludington, Michigan, 2 p.m. screening with stars, producer and a World War 2 historians. A free poster is included with admission.
May 15 - Ludington Arts Center, Ludington, Michigan, 6 p.m. screening with stars, producer and a World War 2 historians. A free poster is included with admission.
May 17: Redford Theater, Detroit Special ticketed 6 p.m. VIP event with stars, directors and meet and greet, dessert and a poster precedes the 8 p.m. screening. Two Detroit actors, lead Edward Gaines and Roosevelt Johnson will be joined by fellow cast members, directors and producer. Colead actress Zaneta Adams, former director of the Michigan Department of Veterans Affairs will speak on the true story behind the film.
May 18: VIP Event With Muskegon Museum of History and Science , 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with stars, directors and a presentation by former director of Michigan Department of Veterans Affair Zaneta Adams. Drinks, light refreshment, a tour of the Home Front Heroes World War 2 exhibit and autographed poster are included along with tickets for the June 1 Mona Shore premiere at 3 p.m. Excerpts from the film will be shown. This movie features 23 West Michigan actors.s
May 22: Garden Theater, Frankfort, Michigan. 7 p.m. Stars and producer/screenwriter will be on hand. A special VIP reception is planned for this event.
May 31: State Theater, South Haven, Michigan 1 p.m. screening with stars and producer, Southwest Michigan Behvioral Health and Veterans Navigator, Toni Kennedy. Cast and the producer will be on hand.
June 1: Muskegon Area Premiere at Mona Shores High School 3 p.m. with stars, director, producer and a free poster. Zaneta Adams, who has a key role in the film, will make a presentation. She will joined by many of the cast and crew who created this film. A special guest will be joining this hometown event.
June 4: Chicago Premiere. 7:30 p.m. Chopin Theater with stars, director and producer. This special tribute event cohosted by Chicago Quarterly Review editor Gary Houston and Rick Kogan (Chicago Tribune/WGN) honors hometown Old Heart author Peter Ferry. Directors, Producer, Stars will appear during the post screening Q and A. Ferry, who died last September, was a frequent CQR contributor, Chicago Tribune travel writer and much loved English teacher at Lake Forest High School. Ferry died in September 2024 the week filming began.
June 5: Cinema Carousel, Norton Shores (Muskegon County) regular run begins. Cast and crew will introduce evening screenings.
June 8: Grand Rapids, Michigan Veterans Home 2950 Monroe Avenue, 2 p.m. This special event honoring our veterans during the 80th anniversary of European Liberation will include West Michigan cast members, the producer and speakers.
June 13: Gilmore Car Museum, with Southwest Michigan Behavioral Health and Veterans Navigator Toni Kennedy. Noon to 4 p.m. 6865 Hickory Road, Hickory Corners, Michigan. Cast will join a speaker from the veterans community.
June 17: California Premiere Hillside Club, Berkeley California 7 p.m. with the film’s producer/screenwriter and a Q and A.
June 22 : Marina Del Rey Film Festival 3 p.m. Culver Theater 9500 Culver Blvd., Culver City. Editor Gene Gamache and Producer/Screenwriter Roger Rapoport will introduce the film with a Q and A following the screening.
June 25: The Association for the Advancement of Dutch American Studies bi-annual national conference, Schaap Auditorium, Hope College, Holland Michigan, 6:30 p.m. Stars, codirector and the producer/screenwriter Roger Rapoport will be present. Open to the Public.

July 20: Kan-Kan Indy, Indianapolis 5 p.m. preceded by 3:30 p.m. special event VIP honoring Old Heart author Peter Ferry with codirector Kirk Wahamaki, producer/screenwriter Roger Rapoport and Carolyn Ferry.
September 20: Theater De Schalm, Veldhoven., Netherlands with lead actors Edward Gaines, Eva Doueiri, producer/screenwriter Roger Rapoport, historian/author Robert Catsburg and Sebastiaan Volk of blackliberators.nl. Tickets for the 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. showings are here. Veldhoven is the setting for much of Old Heart.
September 21: Kijkhuis Leiden Netherlands in association with Studium Generale Universiteit Leiden, 10:30 a.m. Detroit Lead Actor Edward Gaines, Dutch costar Eva Doueiri, and producer/screenwriter Roger Rapoport will join a panel with a Dutch Historian. We thank Mieke Kirkels for making this event possible. Coffee and cake will be provided.
September 21: Hilweg, Netherlands, Biesbosch Museum Eiland This event at scenic Biesbosch National Park commemorates the smuggling operations from liberated Southern Netherlands to people starving in northern cities behind Nazi Lines during the Hunger Winter of 1944-45. Lead actor Edward Gaines joins Dutch actress Eva Doueiri and producer Roger Rapoport who will appear with a museum historian. Guests who arrive early can take a boat tour of this waterway featured in the film. Seating is limited and reservatios are advised.
September 22: (Evening) Leiden, Netherlands at Kijkhuis Leiden in association with Studien Generale Leiden. This special event at Biesbosch National Park includes film stars Edward Gaines, Eva Doueiri, producer Roger Rapoport and speakers from the museum staff. Guest can tour tour the waterways where smugglers moved food and supplies from liberated Southern Netherlands to people starving in northern cities still behind Nazi Lines during the Hunger Winter of 1944-45. Featured in Old Heart, De Biesbosch is one of the most scenic regions in the Netherlands. Seating is limited and reservations are recommended for this event.
