WHEN THE RABBIS CAME TO TOWN RETURNS DECEMBER 9 TO FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH, MUSKEGON

Thanks to great response to our September 26 performance, When The Rabbis Came To Town, starring Adam Bell, returns to First Congregational Church here in Muskegon on December 9 at 6:30 p.m. This performance is directed by Diane Van Wesep. Thank you to Elisabeth Major and the church community for welcoming back Chicago Rabbi Allen Secher. He leads a conversation following the play focused on his lifetime battle for Civil Rights and against anti-semetism.

Secher was one of 16 rabbis arrested on June 18, 1964 in a segregation protest at the Monson Motor Lodge in St. Augustine, Florida. This event helped lead to Senate passage of the long delayed Civil Rights Act the following day. The play embraces Secher's story from his early days in Butler, Pennsylvania to his "retirement” in Montana where he was caught up in an epic battle with the alt-right.

Bell's performance is followed by a VIP reception for Bell, Van Wesep, Secher, myself and Leslye Witt who cowrote the script.
